Flipped learning applications in science education: Module development studyIn this project, it is aimed to provide pre-service science teachers with the competence to prepare course modules based on the Flipped Learning Model. In this context, the Flipped Learning model will be introduced first, and then the ability to make planning in extracurricular and in-class applications will be gained. The working group of the project will consist of third and fourth grade pre-service teachers who will take an active role in the field in the near future and who are studying at Erciyes University in the Science Teaching Department. The embedded design of the mixed research method will be used in the project. In this context, qualitative data will be collected within the scope of action research as the primary data source and quantitative data will be collected within the scope of one-group experimental design as the secondary data source. At the beginning of the project, the qualitative data collection tool “document analysis form” was started to be applied for needs analysis and situation determination. During the project, this form will be applied to the participants after certain activities. After the workshops, a semi-structured interview form will be used to evaluate the effectiveness of the project. Validity and reliability tests will be performed for the newly developed scales to be used in the quantitative part of the project. These scales will be applied as pre-test and post-test before and after the workshops.Convenient sampling, one of the types of purposive sampling, will be used in the project. In convenience sampling, the basic understanding is to collect data from a sample that the researcher can easily reach. The reason for selecting the study group from Erciyes University students is that the project coordinator is working in the science education department at this university. In this way, it was aimed to prevent waste of time and cost. The reason for choosing 3rd and 4th grade students is that they will soon start their active teaching life and it is aimed to make them ready for the profession with pre-service training. Within the scope of the project, a sample course content prepared by the project team based on flipped learning will be introduced to pre-service teachers as a sample module. At this stage, the project team will teach the issues to be considered in content preparation by ensuring the active participation of pre-service teachers in the process. In these contents, different web 2.0 tools (Edpuzzle, Padlet, Kahoot, Google Classroom) will be used to increase the awareness and competence of pre-service teachers. The data of the research will be collected with the “Flipped Learning Scale” developed by Ekinci et al. (2023) and the “Module Preparation Guide” to be prepared by the project team in accordance with the constructivist philosophy and the “Module Evaluation Rubric” and “Module Preparation Competency Scale” to be developed and finalized during the project process. The raw data obtained from the scales developed within the scope of the project will be analyzed using SPSS.27, LISREL 8.80 and Microsoft Excel programs. Qualitative data obtained from the interview form will be analyzed with MAXQDA program. The course modules to be developed in the project will be shared on the web page to be created for the project. It is aimed to increase the widespread impact of the project by making the course modules available to all teachers. In addition, it is aimed that the project will provide a different perspective and set an example for programmers who will prepare curricula. The project is expected to contribute to the implementation of some of the policies and measures identified in the 12th Development Plan and detailed in the project. The modules to be developed at the end of the project will also contribute to the Sustainable Development Goal “Quality Education”
