The European Research Council Project Meeting was held at the Senate Hall by the Office of Dean of Research.
The European Research Council (ERC), one of the most prestigious and leading research institutions in the world, is known for the funds it provides for original and innovative scientific studies that are ground-breaking and of high benefit in every discipline.
Our Rector Prof. Dr. Fatih Altun said: “ERU is an institution that has exceeded a certain threshold on a national scale. We are here to talk about what we can do on an international scale. We are trying to pave the way by pioneering the processes in cooperation with the Office of Dean of Research. While paving the way, we also take your efforts into consideration. We have had meetings with a few consultancy companies. We have made progress as a result of these meetings. In the future, we will come together with more than one company not only to write a project but also to get information about which projects can be written in which fields. For this reason, I wanted this meeting to be held.”
Drawing attention to the importance of the increase in the number of applications, our Rector continued as follows: “In the early days of the year, our duty is to think about and evaluate these issues together with you. However, our main job is to be able to produce projects that will be for the benefit of the humanity and have added value first to our city, then to our country, and then to the whole world. This team may have been chosen as the focus of work now, but it is an eco-system. You also have a wide sphere of influence. I think it will increase even more. I wish we were 500 people. Therefore, we will spread this process to a wider area.”
Emphasizing that motivation is of great importance for this work, Rector Altun added: “We do not neglect some motivation-increasing processes by taking our opportunities and abilities into consideration to encourage our academics. We have applications, and these applications will increase from now on. We work hard, and we strive. Our duty is to support you. As a result of this, I believe you will cross this threshold on an international scale, as well. I would like to thank you for your efforts and contributions. I hope we will continue to be a university known internationally for its good services and good projects.”
After our Rector’s speech, Lect. Zeynep Kayhan from the Project Support Office Team of the Office of Dean of Research made a presentation on the aims and application conditions of the ERC Project.
